We started the day driving 181 miles to visit the famous Gatewy Arch designed by Eero Saarinen, and completed in 1969. It was built to celebrate the pioneering spirit of Americans and is located on the banks of the Mississippi River where Lewis and Clark landed upon their return from Oregon. Amazing!
Next we stopped by the old courthouse where Dredd Scott and his wife pleaded for their freedom, without success.
We spent the afternoon exploring the Botanical Gardens. We visited the first geodesic dome that Buckminster Fuller built, and a lovely Japanese garden.
Topped off the day by watching “The First Man” at a movie theater inside our hotel!
